Becky and Jake

Don your swimming gear and swim the depths of the deep blue in a banana-colored swimming suit because Jake, Becky, and Sammy the cat have the television movie Man from Atlantis in their periscope sights. In this 70s science fiction pilot film, young Patrick Duffy plays a John Doe who washes up on the beach after a storm—a man barely alive. A group of navy scientists quickly find out this is no ordinary land-dwelling individual: he can swim faster than a dolphin and his body can withstand ocean pressure that would crush steel drums like a soda can. Knowing a fall guy when they see one, the navy brass enlist the man they name Mark Harris on a mission to recover a lost submarine. What Mark uncovers at the bottom of the ocean is a secret, one that could be described as another movie entirely, like say, something out of a James Bond film. Such are the adventures of a man, his cat-like contact lenses, and chiseled abs on display for nearly all the movie's final act.
